Mary Jane Lee Society
The Mary Jane Lee Society is named for the founder of Citizens Inn, a woman who when upon learning about a neighbor with two children on the brink of homelessness was inspired to create Citizens for Adequate Housing in 1983. Since our founding, we have carried her spirit of compassion throughout our mission, and now operate Citizens Inn Between, our emergency shelter; Citizens Inn Transition, our sober living transitional housing shelter; Inn Homes, our affordable rental housing; and Haven from Hunger, our food pantry and community meals program.
Members of the Mary Jane Lee Society understand that philanthropy is critical to sustaining the unique programming of our shelters, which provide clients with the stability necessary to leave homelessness behind. Further, donations are solely what enables Haven from Hunger to provide food to thousands of individuals and families in our area – alleviating resources for critical healthcare or housing expenses for some and providing life-saving food for others.
